A Day in the Life of a 13th Century Trinitarian….

A day in the life of a 13th century Trinitarian (Part 4)….

Around eight or eight-thirty in the evening is the time for supper.  This is a much lighter repass than the noontime meal and a truly meager one on days of fasting.  At the end of supper, the community goes in procession to the church or chapel for the recitation of Compline.  This ends with the same threefold prayer and prostration in honor of the Three Persons of the Holy Trinity said and performed in the early hours of the morning.  At the conclusion of this prayer, the Brothers proceed two by two to the dormitory, following the junior religious who carries a lighted lamp if it is dark. The Brothers go to bed, and the lamp is extinguished. It is now between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m.
