Events Between 1534-1539

The Trinitarian Order has suffered persecution many times  by local governments.  One of these sad events between  1534-1539 when the flourishing Province of England which had been established with the founding of the first house in Hounslow, Middlesex in 1214,  was suppressed by King Henry VIII.   All of the ten communities in England were disbanded and the properties were taken over by the state or Anglican prelates.    The same happened to the eight houses the Order had in Scotland and the one in Adare, Ireland.    These were closed  between 1560-1590 during the reign of Elizabeth I.
